In the north-east of Weimar’s city centre, a former nurses' residence that has been vacant for years has been converted into an apartment building. This residential block was completely renovated and extended to the east by ten metres. In the existing building, the 50 original apartmentswere converted into 20 apartments. In the new construction, five further apartments were built, which are partly wheelchair accessible. Furthermore, a lift was installed into the new construction. The 2 and 3 room apartments have been with an open-plan kitchen. The balcony is situated in front of the living room. The south side has a floor-to-ceiling window. The apartments open up onto a pergola. Like the new construction, the façade has a thermal insulation system including the necessary fire blocks. In the basement, the new construction accommodates storage rooms and the apartments, and the basement rooms are connected by a lift for accessibility. The car park is situated on the south side of the building and provides around 24 spaces, 4 of which are reserved for disabled residents.
